Project Description

Mountain Gorillas inhabit the mountains of the Abertine Rift in the heart of the African continent. The region includes the Virunga Mountains of Rwanda, DRCongo, Uganda, and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest of Uganda. Mountain gorillas are the rarest of the gorilla subspecies. As of 2013 the estimated total population was 840. No mountain gorillas are found in captivity.
